Details
This exercise is open to colleagues attending the 3rd Bremen Conference on Multimodality. The conference organisers have kindly allowed our excursion to begin at 18.30h, leaving sufficient time after the preceding seminar to travel into the city centre.
From the University campus, take the tram into Bremen and join us outside the Hauptbahnhof. After a short introduction beginning at 18.30, we will form into groups and begin an unrehearsed excursion - ‘the multimodal derive’ - through the city centre.
The entire activity will last one hour however there will be an opportunity afterwards to reflect on the experience over a drink (with the venue to be determined by the different paths we have followed through the city).
Reflecting the digital interest of this activity, we ask you to download the free Telegram app to a mobile phone device in advance of the conference. The Telegram app will be used for receiving and sending instructions and other content as we explore the city, as well as offering us a way of reflecting on the complex relationship between researcher and technology, and the implications for our work around multimodality. We have put together a short introduction on how to use Telegram.
Information about how will we will use and hold your data can be found on the registration page.
We have obtained the necessary ethical clearance from our institution (the University of Edinburgh) to undertake this activity.
If you have any questions about this activity please contact us.
